Deezer has reinforced its stance on protecting artists and ensuring transparency by remaining the only streaming platform to tag 100% AI-generated music and exclude it from recommendations.

Since early 2025, the Paris-based company has deployed a proprietary AI detection system to track the surge of synthetic tracks. The numbers tell a striking story: in January, AI accounted for 10% of daily uploads; by April it had climbed to 18%; today, it sits at an unprecedented 28%. That translates to more than 30,000 fully AI-generated songs delivered to Deezer every single day.

“Following a massive increase during the year, AI music now makes up a significant part of daily track delivery, and we want to lead the way in minimizing any negative impact for artists and fans alike,” said Alexis Lanternier, CEO of Deezer. “Our approach is simple: we remove fully AI-generated content from algorithmic recommendations and we don’t include it in editorial playlists.”

The stakes are high. According to a study by CISAC and PMP Strategy, as much as €4 billion in creator revenues could be at risk by 2028 due to unchecked AI growth. Deezer’s system, which can detect music from prolific generators like Suno and Udio, already excludes fraudulent streams—up to 70% of plays on synthetic tracks. By keeping these uploads out of recommendations, Deezer protects both artists’ royalties and user trust.

Furthermore, Deezer has filed two patents for its AI detection technology, signaling its commitment to building long-term solutions. For fans, that means the platform remains a place where discovery is rooted in authenticity. For artists, it sends a clear message: their rights and livelihoods remain at the core of Deezer’s mission.
