“It’s about a couple tearing themselves apart when they had something amazing,” 4D4M says. “The fire is that temptation, you know it will burn everything down, but you still reach for it.” The framing hits harder because the emotional weight is autobiographical in feel, not just theoretical.
Sonically, the producer sticks to his signature formula. Hard techno intros build into polyrhythmic dubstep passages. Ruthless riddim climaxes follow. This time, however, the aggression serves the emotion rather than the other way around. “I wanted the drop to feel like watching a relationship implode,” he says.
