Igor Shesterkin, who did not dress for either of the last two games after coming out of the Nov. 2 game against the Hurricanes with apparent general soreness — there’s a new vague category of an injury for you — was in net for the Rangers’ lightly attended optional practice on Wednesday and worked without any limitations, according to Peter Laviolette.
The coach did not rule out Shesterkin for Thursday’s assignment against the Minnesota Wild at the Garden, but Jonathan Quick, who sports a 3-0-1 record, .936 save percentage and 1.77 goals-against average, is more likely to get his third straight start.
“[Shesterkin is] a full go in practice so we’re going to see,” Laviolette said. “He doesn’t have any limitations out there. I need to see where he’s at.
“He’s a go [Wednesday]. I want to see how he responds. We’ll make decisions after that.”
Shesterkin is also off to a solid start to his season, posting a 6-2-0 record, .913 save percentage and 2.36 goals-against average.
