Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones was arrested on Monday night on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge.

Jones was arrested by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Duval County Jail at 6:03 p.m., according to online jail records.

The Jaguars star will have his first court appearance on Tuesday at 9 a.m.

Jones, 28, was charged with domestic battery causing bodily harm, which is a first-degree misdemeanor.

“We are aware of the situation and are in the midst of gathering information. We will have no further comment at this time,” the Jaguars said in a statement.

There are no details available about what led to the arrest.

In Florida, a first-degree misdemeanor can land a person in jail for 180 days and lead to a fine of up to $1,000, according to the Associated Press.

An offender can also be punished by having to pay court costs, restitution, and sentenced to probation, treatment and/or community service.

Jones has missed Jacksonville’s last four games due to lingering knee soreness and hasn’t played in six of the Jaguars’ last seven games.

He made three catches for 23 yards and a touchdown in his last appearance against the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 8.

He has recorded eight receptions for 78 yards and two touchdowns this season.

Jones is in his seventh NFL season and second with the Jaguars, with stops with the Bills and Raiders organization during his career.

He is in the middle of a three-year, $24 million deal he signed with the Jaguars as a free agent before last season.

The Jaguars currently sit atop the AFC South at 6-3 heading into Week 11.

They’re coming off a loss to the San Francisco 49ers last weekend and will face the Tennessee Titans at home this weekend.
