It was a profitable Thanksgiving Day for this sports bettor.
A gambler at FanDuel Sportsbook bet on five different players to score a touchdown during the NFL‘s Turkey Day action in a massive parlay.
The odds were more than 2,000/1 — coming in at +255887 — with an implied probability of about 0.04 percent.
The parlay won the bettor a whopping $20,478 off a measly $8 gamble.
The parlay started off hot, hitting two legs — a Christian Watson and Sam LaPorta touchdown — during the first quarter of the Lions-Packers game.
Watson, who had seven touchdowns in 2022, had just two touchdowns on the season before the game.
LaPorta’s score — which came on Detroit’s first drive — marked his fifth time crossing the goal line this season.
With less than a minute left in the game, the wager looked all but dead.
That is, until Detroit quarterback Jared Goff connected with Josh Reynolds for a 12-yard touchdown pass with just 41 seconds left in the game, keeping the parlay alive with two legs to go.
It was Reynolds’ first touchdown since early October, snapping a five-game cold streak for the seven-year veteran Lions wide receiver.
Betting on the NFL?
Lucky for this bettor, the Cowboys’ offense came to play while the Commanders’ defense did not, giving up 45 total points on the day.
Dallas wideout Brandin Cooks reached the end zone in the middle of the second quarter, leaving this bettor one KaVontae Turpin touchdown away from a fantastic payout.
Turpin delivered with less than six minutes to go in the game, catching a 34-yard pass from Dak Prescott.
The catch was Turpin’s only reception of the day and just his 10th of the season, although he’s had a knack for reaching the end zone.
Three of his 10 catches have resulted in six points.
