Channel 5’s Matt Jackson-Smith has shared the first photographs of his adorable newborn daughter.
Mixed practice vet Matt, 34, is best known for his role on The Yorkshire Vet where he stars alongside long-standing cast members Peter Wright and Julian Norton.
He and his wife, Katherine Jackson-Smith, recently announced that their first child had been born via a planned C-section.
The pair have also detailed the sweet reason behind her unique name.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, Matt said: “We bought a baby book for some inspiration and toyed over a couple, but when we spotted Anastasia we fell in love right away.
“Plus, we later realised it’s the name my mum was planning to call me if I was a girl.”
He also added that Katherine – a Huddersfield-based solicitor – also liked the nickname ‘Annie’, which is often short for Anastasia.
Elsewhere, the star revealed that his daughter’s middle name is a tribute to his spouse’s maternal grandmother.
Matt explained: “She also has a middle name, Maria, after Katherine’s grandmother, who was called Eva Maria.
“Katherine’s maternal side is German and her grandmother, when she was just 12 years old, had to flee with her mother – Katherine’s great-grandmother – for safety.”
In the first photographs, the pair could be seen smiling into the camera whilst presenting Anastasia to the world.
In snaps, the couple’s pooch also featured alongside them in the child’s nursery.
Speaking about her daughter’s relationship with pet-friend Harry, Katherine told the publication that they have already bonded.
“They’re such a big part of our lives so we introduced them early on. It’s easy to worry about how they’ll react, but Harry couldn’t be a better dog,” she admitted.
“He’s really taken to her and loves a cuddle. He’ll sit with me when I give Anastasia her morning feed.”
The pair – who have been married since November 2022 – announced that they were expecting their first child earlier this summer.
Taking to Instagram at the time, Matt shared a selfie of himself, Katherine and Harry alongside a picture of a baby scan.
In the caption, the vet wrote to his 10,900 followers: “Mr Harris would like to proudly announce he is going to be a big brother!
“Baby Jackson-Smith due October 2023!” he added, followed by a string of smiley emojis.
