Taylor Swift’s NFL takeover isn’t limited to boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Chiefs games.
The pop megastar, 33, became a social media talking point during the Bengals-Jaguars game Monday night, when an older photo of Swift posing with Jacksonville’s backup quarterback, C.J. Beathard, began circulating on X as the former Iowa product relieved an injured Trevor Lawrence.
Beathard, who completed 9 of 10 pass attempts for 63 yards in the Jaguars’ 34-31 overtime loss, mingled with country music artists while growing up in the Nashville area, as his father, Casey Beathard, is a songwriter.
“It was just natural to be hanging out at Kenny Chesney’s house, or sitting in a studio and Trace Adkins is singing,” Casey Beathard said in a 2015 ESPN profile on his son.
“Then on weekends we’d drive down to Atlanta or fly out to San Diego and they (C.J. and brothers Tucker and Clay) got to spend a lot of time in the locker room and on the sidelines. They got to be around their heroes.”
Beathard’s late grandfather, Pro Football Hall of Famer Bobby Beathard, was an NFL executive who served as the general manager of the Chargers.
As for C.J. Beathard, 30, his NFL journey began with the 49ers, who selected him 104th overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
He spent four seasons in San Francisco before signing with the Jaguars in 2021, the same year Lawrence, 24, arrived in Jacksonville.
Lawrence suffered a right ankle injury in the fourth quarter of Monday’s loss to the Bengals, with initial tests indicating it to be a sprain, according to ESPN.
It remains to be seen if Lawrence will miss time as a result.
The Jaguars (8-4) are currently the fourth seed in the AFC playoff race, behind Kelce’s Chiefs (8-4).
Kansas City suffered a stunning 27-19 loss to the Packers on “Sunday Night Football” with Swift in attendance.
She has appeared at five Chiefs games this season, four of which were wins.
Swift and Kelce, 34, have been linked since September.
