As 2023 comes to an end, another year has passed without news of the next James Bond.

Nevertheless, given it’s been over two since Daniel Craig bowed out so explosively in No Time To Die we’re all the more hopeful of an announcement in 2024.

In the meantime, there’s been a shake-up in the next Bond odds with Henry Cavill and James Norton still behind the favourite.

Coral bookmakers’ 007 favourite Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s chances of taking up the Licence to Kill next have been slashed from 5-2 to 2-1 following a wave of support in the last 24 hours.

Coral’s John Hill said: “The amount of support behind Aaron Taylor-Johnson over the last 24 hours is the most significant we have seen for anybody in our next James Bond betting in 2023.”

The 33-year-old star of Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Bullet Train and the upcoming Kraven the Hunter is no stranger to action or wit.

Add his hunky physique and the fact he’s in his early thirties and he’s the perfect candidate to play the next incarnation of Ian Fleming’s spy.

He shot to the top of the bookies’ odds earlier this year after rumours of a secret audition where he impressed Barbara Broccoli and has since been playing it coy about it all in interviews.

Aside from Taylor-Johnson leading the next Bond odds pack on 2-1, here are the other contenders: 2-1 Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 7-2 Henry Cavill, 4-1 James Norton, 5-1 Rege-Jean Page, 7-1 Tom Hardy, 12-1 Jack Lowden, 12-1 Paapa Essiedu, 14-1 Callum Turner, 16-1 Richard Madden, 16-1 Sope Dirisu, 18-1 Aidan Turner.
