Ruth Langsford has issued an apology to one of her Instagram followers, who took issue with the way she was eating in her latest video this week. Ahead of her Loose Women return on Tuesday, the 63-year-old revealed she had been preparing lunches for her comeback as she tucked into a bowl of food.

Speaking in the clip, the make-up free presenter said: “Hello all. Back in the kitchen, Sunday, a bit of a cook up today. No make-up, hair scraped up. I’m using up lots of leftovers. I had lots of peppers, I had a bit of chicken. So, I’ve made a chicken tray bake thing.”

She went on to show the camera her food and went on to share what other food and drink she had been preparing for the week. She added: “Done my breakfast, done my green juice, done my lunch. So, I’m not doing any kind of ‘New Year, new me’ thing. I’m just trying to get back to where I was before Christmas, which is not living on Quality Street and gin!”

Addressing her natural appearance, she captioned the post: “Next time you see me on the front cover of a glossy magazine remember what I REALLY look like!! #happynewyear.” Many of Ruth’s one million followers flocked to her post to comment including ITV colleague Vanessa Feltz wrote: “You look b****y lovely and guess what? You ARE b****y lovely.”

“So natural,” added presenter Lucy Alexander, while Vicky Pattison commented: “I LOVE you both ways to be fair.” Another praised Ruth for showing fans “the real world” away from the glamour on screen.

Amongst the comments however was one who took issue with Ruth’s eating while talking.

They wrote: “It’s the slapping of the lips that’s putting me off this post,” to which the presenter replied: “Sorry… just enjoying my food! x.”

Ruth’s latest video comes after she shut down speculation about a return to This Morning.

The host regularly fronted the show with husband Eamonn Holmes before he moved to GB News in 2021.

Following Holly Willoughby’s departure from the ITV show after 14 years in October, Ruth was quizzed about a potential return.

She told Hello! Magazine: “I think that ship has sailed. Listen, never say never. I adore that show and it was a dream to work on it.

“I worked on it before Eamonn, actually people forget that. I say to him, ‘I took you to work, don’t forget!'”
