BBC Gladiators‘ favourite, Sabre, has had to leave the contest after getting hurt. Sabre, whose real name is Sheli McCoy, quickly became a fan favourite with her strong performances.

However, on Saturday, she was hurt in a match against contestant, Bronte.

Commentator Guy Mowbray said during the show: “Now Sabre is taking a seat here. I wonder if the Gladiator might be injured. And there’s still plenty of time to go. 30 seconds. But that’s where the event is halted.”

He also added: “You can see Sabre doing everything in her power to try and prise Bronte away but she’s hurt herself in trying.”

Referee Mark Clattenberg decided what would happen next in the contest.

He said: “Yes Sabre received an injury and therefore unfortunately because Sabre was injured, Bronte would have completed the five crossings, and therefore we award Bronte the full 10 points.”

It wasn’t long before worried fans took to social media to enquire about how Sabre is doing now.

One viewer, @andygibsonTV, asked on X (formerly Twitter): “Any update on Sabre? #Gladiators #BBCGladiators”.

@joanne42 tweeted saying: “Nevermind about the travelator, what i want to know is, is #Sabre ok cos she’s my favourite . #Gladiators”.

@nebulaB tweeted: “Oh no, the moment I’ve been dreading. Sabre’s injury but also…glad Bronte has a big lead over the cheater. #Gladiators”.

And @thebigmossman stated: “Hope Sabre is ok #gladiators”.

@jamiesummersTV tweeted: “There goes Sabre’s hamstring and out of the show #Gladiators You’ll be back for series 2, right, Sabre? #Gladiators”.

@chelseagirlie19 posted: “I love Sabre from the #Gladiators hope she is ok after her injury in tonights episode x”.

This means Sabre won’t be in the final.

Luckily, the fitness coach star has since recovered from her injury.

On her social media page, Sabre – real name Sheli McCoy – has been showing how strong she is and talks about her bodybuilding and exercise, sparking hopes that she could return for the next series of the BBC show.
