Celebrities in the Hamptons last weekend for a women’s business summit reportedly did their best to dodge being caught in photographs with Meghan Markle.
At the G9 Ventures Summer Summit hosted by power broker Amy Griffin, the Duchess of Sussex was seen in photos mingling with fashion designer and pal Misha Nonoo along with makeup mogul Bobbi Brown.
Noticeably absent, however, were any snaps of Markle with event attendees Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon or Diane Sawyer, NewsNation’s Paula Froelich reported.
“They know that if they are in a picture with [Meghan] it is a tacit approval of her that she can use to promote herself,” one insider told the outlet.
“Meghan can show up at events where they are at, move into their neighborhood…but they are not friends.”
Sources previously told Page Six Markle flew in from Santa Barbara, Calif., with entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima for the one-day summit, where she was looking to network with female founders and get any tips ahead of officially launching her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard.
The annual event was hosted at Griffin’s $13 million estate, which she shares with her husband, billionaire hedge funder John Griffin.
The guest list included Weight Watchers CEO Sima Sistani; Spanx founder Sara Blakely; and cosmetics guru Victoria Jackson.
A rep for Markle declined to comment.
Reps Paltrow, Witherspoon and Sawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
