A colour expert has revealed the secret meaning behind Princess Kate’s bright and bold outfit colour choices during recent engagements, believing it has a strong symbolic purpose. Princess Kate turned heads at Westminster Abbey on Commonwealth Day as the royal wore a Catherine Walker Beau Tie Coat Dress in a cool, bright red tone.
Colour analysis expert, Francesca Cairns, believes Kate, who is described as having a ‘True Summer’ season, has been wearing the colour “often associated with confidence, power and leadership”. She exclusively told Express.co.uk: “Red is commonly used to make a strong statement in public appearances, drawing attention and helping her stand out in a crowd.
“It symbolizes strength, energy, and assertiveness, which can reinforce her authority and visibility during her engagements.”
The expert further explained: “Red also stands out more in crowds because it is a high-contrast, stimulating colour. The human eye is naturally drawn to red, as it is one of the most vivid and attention-grabbing colours.”
Kate’s red coat dress featured a stunning bow across the centre and button detailing. The long line cut created a stunning silhouette that suited her frame.
The royal is a huge fan of the designer, Catherine Walker, and has worn many designs from her collection over the years. For her joint engagement with Prince William in March to Pontypridd in Wales, Kate re-wore a red Alexander McQueen coat.
English fashion designer Sarah Burton designed the custom-made Alexander McQueen Welsh double-breasted coat with a peak lapel and flap pockets, and she has worn the coat several times for public engagements. Before her trip to Wales, she was last seen in it at her ‘Together At Christmas’ Carol Service, which was held back in December.
Francesca describes the coat as a “cool, bright, red”. She explained: “The red coat and red coat dress Kate has been wearing can be described as a cool bright red, which works well with her cool undertones as a True Summer. This is a vibrant, clear red with blue undertones that complements her complexion.”
Francesca has worked with celebrities including former prime minister, Theresa May, to provide a colour analysis and enhance fashion styles. The colour expert also suggested as a ‘True Summer’ season, cool red works well for Kate, but there are other tones that would suit her complexion.
These would include, a soft cherry red – which is less intense, a rose red – which is delicate, soft, and pink-like, raspberry red – which has a slightly pinkish hue, and crimson – which is rich and cool.
The expert who has worked in fashion and styling for over 10 years, added: “These reds [stated above] tend to have blue undertones and are softer, which harmonizes better with the cooler complexion of a True Summer.
