Ableton has opened the public beta for Live 12.3, and this update brings some amazing new features to one of the world’s most powerful DAWs.
One of the biggest additions is Stem Separation. With just a couple of clicks, you can split any audio clip into vocals, drums, bass, and other parts. This means you can pull acapellas out of full songs, break down drum loops and extract stems out of complete songs within your DAW. Powered by Music AI’s algorithms (the same team behind Moises), this opens up endless possibilities. The stem separation feature is available for Live 12 Suite & Push 3 Standalone.
Splice Integration
Splice users will love this one. You can now browse the entire Splice library directly inside Live’s Browser. All sounds stay in sync and in key with your project. There’s also a new Search with Sound feature. Drop in a clip from your track, and Splice will find samples that match its rhythm and harmony.
Bounce Groups
Live 12.3 makes bouncing audio much smoother. Bounce Groups lets you bounce a whole Group track with all its effects whereas the Paste Bounced Audio feature lets you paste any clip or selection as rendered audio with a simple shortcut.
New Auto Pan-Tremolo
The old Auto Pan has been upgraded to Auto Pan-Tremolo. You can now create wide stereo movement, sidechain-style pumping, trance-style gates, and complex polyrhythms—all in one device. It’s available in Live, Move, and Note.
Device A/B and New Packs
All built-in devices now support A/B parameter states, letting you instantly compare two variations of your sound.
There are also fresh Packs:
- Generators by Iftah adds tools for instant basslines and rhythms.
- Expressive Chords now lets you edit and learn chords easily.
- Sequencers add new arrangement options.
Apart from Ableton Live 12, the company has also upgraded its Push 3, Note & Move.
With Live 12.3, Push 3 gets more expressive and flexible. The new XYZ layout turns the pads into a touch surface for shaping sounds in real time. Rhythm Generator brings a hands-on way to create and tweak beats, while touch-sensitive step editing makes it easy to add a human feel to your drums. Push Standalone now also supports class-compliant audio interfaces, giving you more options for recording and performing.
On mobile, Note 1.5 unlocks full control of the Drift synth as an in-app purchase, so you can dive deeper into sound design on iOS. Move 1.6 adds sliced loop presets, reversible Drum Rack samples, and smoother transfers with Move Manager, making it simpler to sketch and edit ideas on the go.
