Legendary Bristol trio Massive Attack have announced their return with new music scheduled for 2026. According to a social media post, the group plan to release what they call a “cache of work created in the recent past” via a brand-new label.
Although the band haven’t shared an exact release date or format, they did highlight one major detail: the new material will not appear on Spotify. They maintain their stance after asking the platform to remove their catalog earlier this year, citing ethical objections to the company’s ties to military AI technology.
Meanwhile, Massive Attack have launched a dedicated WhatsApp channel for fans seeking early access to updates, special performances, and future releases. Their last body of new original work arrived in 2020 with the Eutopia EP, following the 2016 tracks ‘The Spoils’, ‘Come Near Me’, and the Ritual Spirit EP.
This move signals that Massive Attack are entering a new phase – one defined by independence, direct communication with fans, and a refusal to follow traditional streaming channels. For a band that has reshaped trip-hop and electronic music since the early 1990s, 2026 now looms as a long-awaited return to the studio and stage.
