When Skrillex released his debut full-length album, Recess, in 2014, it was arguably the most anticipated record in electronic music. Over a decade later, the Ragga Twins have received a special honor for their contributions to the release.
Fans of ragga and jungle MC sounds are well acquainted with the Ragga Twins, but their global reach had only trickled through in bits and pieces throughout their career. When Skrillex was preparing his now iconic debut album, Recess, he looked to the artists to bring their unique energy and flow to two tracks on the collection. The duo, consisting of Deman Rocker and Flinty Badman, lent their voices to the opening track, All Is Fair In Love And Brostep and the appropriately titled Ragga Bomb. They served as the perfect hype man for Skrillex’s unique brand of dubstep and introduced a new generation of fans to their legendary talents.
Taking to social media, the Ragga Twins have revealed they have finally earned their first gold record thanks to their work on Recess. In the clip, the duo can be seen opening their new plaque, and they note that the award was given for reaching 40,000 sales in Canada. Badman opens the package as he talks about receiving the honor before placing the unboxed gold disc in the lap of Rocker, who is still in a wheelchair following a fall outside of his home in 2024. A big congrats to the Ragga Twins and Skrillex for this incredible honor, and you can revisit the entire Recess album below.
