Once I Took A Pill In Ibiza hit fans, it became an instant hit, detailing the highs and lows of celebrity life alongside a smooth melody and rhythm that caught the cultural zeitgeist. Of course, the years since have greatly evolved the club scene and culture, as artists focus more on mental health and fans have aged since 2015. Mike Posner certainly was ahead of the curve when he explained the strain and struggle of celebrity and influencer lifestyles back in 2015. Returning to the concept and region in 2026, he has now shared a drastic new take on the lifestyle with his single, I Went Back To Ibiza.

Instead of the laidback electornic vibe of the original, Posner’s new track is layered over an acoustic guitar, light drum kit, and some external players on the keys and harmonica. Throughout, he sings about his own rise to fame and personal demons, revealing how he almost died twice, but ‘I’m here for a reason.’ He also keeps Avicii’s name in the lyrics, mourning the loss of the iconic producer as a sign of how things have changed.
