Kieran Hebden loves a puzzle. Four Tet has just dropped a surprise new album, released not under his main name but under his alias whose title is written entirely in the Wingdings font. The record arrived on 3 July 2026, spans 8 tracks and 37 minutes of runtime, and is streaming on Spotify right now for anyone willing to dig for it.
Wingdings joins a long list of Four Tet’s cryptic side projects
The album name and every track title are written in Wingdings symbols, meaning fans have to translate the characters themselves to figure out what they are actually called. Track two of the record is a single that first surfaced last October, and has since been a regular in Four Tet‘s live sets. Track three has also appeared in his sets over the past year, though no official video exists yet.
The album continues Kieran’s long tradition of releasing under cryptic aliases. Wingdings now joins a growing family that includes 00110100 01010100, KH, Percussions and 4TLR. The latter is particularly worth diving into for anyone new to Hebden’s world, containing five live sets stretching all the way back to 2004. Whether he is producing club heaters with Skrillex and Fred again or dropping unclassifiable projects like this, he remains one of the most creatively fearless producers in electronic music.
