Some records just feel like summer. Fabio Vela brand-new collaboration with legendary house vocalist Foremost Poets, ‘Night Gate’, is exactly that kind of record. Sitting right on the seam between classic house and tech house, it is a groove-driven, piano-fuelled heater built for an Ibiza rooftop at 2 AM. The single is out now via Australian independent label Brook Gee Records, and marks Fabio’s debut on the imprint.
The track hits every button. The driving low-end groove sets the pace early, then Foremost Poets‘ unmistakable spoken-word delivery slides in with a real storytelling weight. From there, the breakdown builds slowly, climbing on uplifting piano chords, tension coiled around every bar, before the whole thing detonates into a proper house drop. It is the kind of moment that makes people throw their arms up on the floor. Notably, Foremost Poets has been one of the most influential vocal presences in house music over the past two decades, and his appearance here gives ‘Night Gate’ an instant timeless quality.
For those less familiar, Fabio Vela is an Italian DJ and producer whose evolving House and Tech House sound has already earned him releases on Italy’s acclaimed Ocean Trax Records, and support from Defected Records on his previous single ‘I Can Handle It’. Based in Milan and known for his infectious grooves and strong melodies, Vela is one of Italy’s rising underground names.
