Belgian techno superstar Amelie Lens closes the Tomorrowland 2026 Freedom Stage on Sunday night with a set entirely dedicated to her upcoming debut album ‘AURA’, and she has opened up about performing while pregnant in a candid new interview with Belgian public broadcaster VRT NWS. “As a pregnant woman, you shouldn’t put your dreams aside,” Lens tells VRT, framing her closing Freedom Stage moment as one of the most empowering nights of her career. On September 5, she will also perform ‘AURA’ in front of the KMSKA in her hometown of Antwerp for a full audio-visual live show. “I’ve been doing this for 10 years, so that’s quite late, but I never felt ready before and now everything just clicks,” she says of the album finally landing.
After closing the Atmosphere tent at Weekend 1, Lens is excited to pull out all the stops in the Freedom tent, which features rotating screens on the ceiling. “I have a team of my own technicians in the Freedom – very different from plugging in my USB in the Atmosphere,” she smiles. She also laughed off the day’s biggest rumour: that she was bringing Belgian pop superstar Angele along as a surprise guest, as she did earlier this month at Dour Festival. “Unfortunately not. I would love to have Angele with us all the time, but with our busy schedules, that is almost impossible.”
Currently pregnant with her second daughter, Lens has been open about how her role as mum Amelie and DJ Amelie Lens have to sit alongside each other. “I’ve known for a while, so we quickly adjusted my tour schedule. I always sleep 8 hours. My body is my baby’s home: that always takes priority.”
She also spoke about the deeper emotional side of the moment. “I love being pregnant and I feel good, so it feels very empowering, very powerful to still be able to do my job. Performing while creating a little human being is the best feeling in the world.”
