Tomorrowland‘s impact on the wider Belgian economy has been made very clear by fresh reporting: the festival is estimated to have generated around 60,000 overnight hotel stays in Brussels alone across its two weekends, cementing its status as one of the biggest annual tourism drivers the country sees each year.
With around 200,000 festivalgoers per weekend descending on De Schorre in Boom – and the vast majority of them travelling from outside Belgium – the accommodation demand ripples across the entire region. Boom itself is a small town, and while local homeowners have been cashing in on short-term rentals and DIY campsites, the overflow spreads far beyond De Schorre. Brussels is only a short train ride from Boom, and its hotels have become one of the biggest beneficiaries of that geography every summer.
Sixty thousand overnight stays is a huge number even in a city as busy as Brussels. For context, that’s roughly the equivalent of a mid-tier convention lasting weeks – and it happens across just two weekends every July. Hotels ranging from boutique properties to major international chains have been filling up months in advance, with pricing surging accordingly.
The impact goes even further when you factor in restaurants, taxis, public transport, and retail across Brussels, Antwerp, Boom and the surrounding towns. Tomorrowland has previously reported hundreds of millions of euros in cumulative economic impact for the region across each weekend, and this fresh Brussels-focused figure only underlines just how much value the festival brings to Belgium’s tourism sector every summer.
With Tomorrowland’s 2027 destinations already teased across Belgium, Brazil, France, Ibiza, Las Vegas and Thailand, the festival brand is only getting bigger – and so is its tourism footprint on host cities.
