Amelie Lens just revealed her most anticipated collaboration yet. Out August 7 via Sony Music, the Belgian techno icon has linked with fellow Belgian superstar Angèle for new single ‘run’. Notably, it stands as the only collaboration on Amelie Lens’s entire debut album ‘AURA’, which arrives September 4.
The track fuses Lens’s quintessential energetic techno beats with Angèle’s whispery, almost supernatural vocals. Furthermore, it lands as an organic pop-and-techno hybrid neither artist could have delivered alone. Lens frames the pick simply. “Angèle’s voice was the only one I could imagine on this track. I have been such a fan of hers for so long, I think she’s a truly special talent and that’s why she’s the only other artist and only collab on my whole album,” she said.
Angèle traces the connection back to Belgian friendship circles. “I met Amelie through mutual friends, and every time we see each other, whether it’s in Belgium or somewhere else in the world, we just click instantly,” she shared. Notably, she also caught Lens at Glastonbury last year: “I got goosebumps straight away. When she called to ask if I’d be on a track from her first album, I heard the track and didn’t even have to think about it. I admire her so much, both as an artist and as a woman. I’m really happy we finally got to make something together.”
Amelie Lens has spent a decade at the top of the international techno pyramid. Raised by her grandmother, she was already a regular on Belgian dancefloors by 15. Her 2016 debut release opened the door to an internationally recognised career. Since then, she has released on many of techno’s most respected labels. Furthermore, she has contributed to the Global Underground City mix series. Additionally, headline slots at Awakenings, Sonar, Time Warp and Tomorrowland‘s mainstage followed. Beyond her own tours, Amelie Lens also runs EXHALE Records and Lenske. Meanwhile, Lenske has released music from Farrago, AIROD, Ahl Iver, Lokier and Milo Spykers since 2018. Ultimately, ‘run’ lands as the lead reveal from ‘AURA’, out via Sony Music on September 4.
