Abbey Clancy was left “hysterically crying” after she started to feel numb from the waist down, only to be told by a specialist that her jeans were too tight. The model, 37, was convinced that she was seriously ill after she couldn’t feel her groin.
The mum-of-four was adamant that something was wrong when she started experiencing numbness and contacted a multiple sclerosis specialist for a check-up. However, it turned out that her constant worrying was down to her tight jeans.
“It’s when I had these jeans on, they were so tight they would stop the blood where I was sitting down,” she confessed to The Sun. “But Googling it, it was MS. I’d been holding (anxiety) in so much that when I got to the doctor, I went hysterical and couldn’t stop crying.”
Her husband Peter Crouch added that Abbey suffers from health anxiety. He said on the Newlyweds podcast: “Health anxiety is a thing. She has an issue with that. I’d like Abs to worry less. It feels like she takes on everyone’s problems.”
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that can impact the brain and spinal cord, according to the NHS. It affects function in the motor, sensory and visual areas and it is estimated that over 1.8 million people worldwide suffer from the condition.
In similar news, Abbey revealed that she was left to cook alone for Christmas when Peter visited the pub for a pint last year. Speaking to Michael McIntyre on his Christmas Wheel show, Abbey revealed that she typically organises the whole festive day.
The model said: “Last year everyone went to the pub and left me on my own to do all the dinner and everything. It’s not every year but it was the year you [Peter] didn’t get me any presents.”
The crowd booed at her husband as she added: “It is true. I did that thing where you are like ‘What do you want for Christmas, oh let’s not do presents this year’.
Peter then defended himself and said: “Did I not get you anything?” and couldn’t recall the moment. He also told Abbey on the show that he didn’t believe that he had behaved like that.
Abbey started dating Peter in 2006 when he was a full-time professional footballer. The pair later got engaged in 2009 and then tied the knot two years later.
They share two sons and two daughters: Johnny (born January 2018) and Jack (born June 2019), Sophia Ruby (born March 2011), and Liberty Rose (born June 2015).
