Two very different eras of dance music just met on one record. Argy has teamed up with the legendary Paul Oakenfold and Planet Perfecto Knights to deliver an official 2026 rework of the iconic trance anthem ‘ResuRection’, and the result is exactly the kind of respectful, forward-facing reimagining fans hoped for. While preserving the original’s unmistakable melody, the new version blends hypnotic melodic techno with driving rhythms, giving the track a contemporary edge without touching its DNA.
Originally released in the early 2000s, ‘ResuRection’ has a properly legendary backstory. Paul Oakenfold signed the record to his label Perfecto Records after PPK handed him the record while he was playing at Gorky Park in Moscow. He listened on his headphones and signed it on the spot. The original reached number 26 on the Billboard Top 100 Dance Chart in April 2002, and was later ranked number 70 in A State of Trance’s Top 1000 list in 2021. The new Argy rework has already been played on A State of Trance radio and has been a regular in Argy’s own live sets throughout 2026.
The pairing itself is a properly interesting one. Argy is currently one of the most prominent melodic techno DJs on the planet, while Paul Oakenfold’s career spans more than four decades and continues to define the trance heritage lane. With trance and melodic techno increasingly bleeding into each other on the biggest stages, this rework feels like both a tribute and a bridge between the two worlds.
