Carol Kirkwood has broken her social media silence to address her new marriage status after tying the knot with partner Steve Randall on Wednesday. The BBC Breakfast star revealed she and her husband had a “private” and “tiny” wedding and went on to share various picures of them beaming with happiness from their special day.

In view of her 253,000 X, formerly known as Twitter, followers, Carol, 61, wrote: “Thank you so much for all your lovely messages. We had the most perfect day. It was a tiny wedding but so romantic and intimate.

“A day we will never forget. We are bursting with happiness. It wasn’t a ‘secret’ wedding, just a private one.” Many of the weather meteorologist’s fans and friends flocked to her post to send congratulatory messages.

Carol Vorderman wrote: “Huge congratulations GG… you are beautiful inside and out. Wishing you both every happiness as ever xx.” Rylan Clarke added: “Congrats to you both Carol xx.”

The presenter’s BBC co-stars also sent their best wishes on the platform including Sally Nugent who commented: “Congratulations Carol and Steve. Thrilled to share this beautiful picture of the happy couple.”

Jon Kay added: “Look at these two!! We are all so very happy for this wonderful couple. Just the loveliest way to end 2023. Forecast: [sunshine and smiley face emojis]. @BBCBreakfast.”

Dan Walker wrote: “Congratulations to Carol and Steve. Steve is one very fortunate gentlemen and Carol is the best of us all. She is kind, caring, brilliant at her job and a wonderful person to be around. I wish them every happiness in their new life together.”

Carol initially issued a statement about her big day via hosts Naga Munchetty and Charlie Stayt on BBC Breakfast this morning.

She shared: “It was the most perfect and romantic and intimate wedding. We are both so incredibly happy.”

In pictures from the ceremony, the beautiful bride wore a bardot-style floor-length gown completed with a dainty silver necklace.

Adding to her look, she styled her hair in an elegant up’do and wore carefully placed make-up.

Carol’s new husband dressed smart in a grey waistcoat and trousers, completed with a tie and black suit jacket.

The former policeman, who is 13 years her junior, popped the question during a romantic picnic last year.

Announcing the news at the Chelsea Flower Show live on-air, Carol shared of the moment: “We went out for a picnic, I had absolutely no idea.

“The weather was glorious, we were sitting chatting… he was fumbling in his pocket and then out came a ring, I thought he was joking actually, I didn’t believe him to start with.”

In an interview with Prima Magazine back in 2021, she shared of her partner: “He always makes me a cup of tea before I go to work in the morning, which is very romantic – it’s 2.45am and he often leaves me a little love note for when I come home from work. That, to me, is worth a million red roses.

“He is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, without a shadow of a doubt.”
