Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez tied the knot just two years ago, nearly 20 years after their first attempt at getting married, but now fans believe their romance could be at an end.
Rumours spiralled amid reports that the Hollywood A-listers are now living separately and they have both made solo appearances during recent public outings, with Ben even being spotted without his ring.
However, the director’s close pal and an attendee at their star-studded wedding Jason Mewes has slammed the speculation.
While the comedian admitted he doesn’t “get to chat with them that often” since their Las Vegas wedding he was very reluctant to believe they’re heading for a split.
The actor was spotted in Los Angeles on Wednesday and stopped for a brief moment in a parking lot to share his frustrations over the speculation.
When a TMZ reporter confronted the 49-year-old with the new claims about the couple’s housing arrangements, he pointed out: “Why wouldn’t someone think maybe because he’s working, she’s working, it’s too much for the kids.”
While Ben and J.Lo haven’t welcomed any children during their two years of marriage, they have blended their families and the Batman star shares 15-year-old daughter Violet with his ex Jennifer Garner.
The On The Floor hitmaker also has 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme with her ex Marc Anthony.
Jason theorised that maybe the “kids running around” the house made it too difficult for Ben to work as he’s in production for his latest flick The Accountant 2 or that J.Lo wasn’t a fan of having all the people at their home for rehearsals.
The Jay and Silent Bob star again insisted that he has no confirmation on this theory, but felt a work conflict was far more believable than the couple breaking up.
Having watched their nuptials first hand, Jason declared he “would be shocked” if they split as he recalled the “genuine”, “sincere and real” love that filled the room during their big day in 2022.
While the theories spiral, some fans have pointed out that both stars have grueling schedules at the moment which could explain the distance while Ben’s character in The Accountant 2 is believed to be unmarried, explaining the actor’s lacking wedding ring while he’s in production.
