The gambler who placed $125,000 on a wager for Brock Purdy to be the MVP is zen about his bet likely going up in smoke in a Christmas night loss to the Ravens.

The bettor, who declined to publicly reveal his name, has identified himself to The Post as an Ivy League grad in his 30s, and his identity was privately confirmed by PropSwap founder Luke Pergande.

Purdy went into the game as the odds-on favorite to win the league MVP, in the -200 to -250 range at most books, and proceeded to toss four interceptions as Baltimore won the game 33-19.

Last week, sports business reporter Darren Rovell revealed that a bettor bought a $125,000 ticket that would have paid a profit of $77,000, an implied line of -162, at the betting exchange PropSwap, a steep discount to where the line was trading at all the online sportsbooks.

The original bettor had risked $2,000 at 100-to-1 odds in July of 2023.

As Purdy and the Niners got pummeled on Monday, the bettor was the subject of much second-guessing.

“Buyer starting to get a little nauseous?” Rovell asked in a tweet.

In fact, he’s doing just fine.

“While certainly looking worse after last night, I still believe in Purdy and that if he plays out strong he can win MVP,” the bettor said in a text message to The Post on Tuesday.

“Either way, I didn’t gamble more than I was prepared to lose, and was really happy with PropSwap for giving me these great odds and a seamless buying experience.”

The bettor said that he has earned at least six figures gambling each year since 2020, and that “this year will be no exception.”

“This wasn’t the biggest loss of my career and wouldn’t have been the biggest win if it had hit,” he said.

He noted that the Purdy bet was not a hedge on another MVP position, and that he plans to let the ticket ride.

“I have a system that is proven successful and sometimes it loses but in aggregate it has won more than it has lost, and I’m comfortable taking risk and understand that it comes with the territory,” he said.

The current odds-on favorite in MVP odds is Lamar Jackson, who is at about -160 in the latest odds on FanDuel.

Christian McCaffrey is at +400, Tua Tagovailoa at +1000, and Purdy has slipped to +1400 as of publication time.
