Brooke Burke is waltzing away from the headline-making revelation that she was “tempted” to have an affair with her “Dancing With the Stars” partner Derek Hough, 38.
Burke, 52, told The Post she was surprised — but also “not worried” — that her admission last week on former “DWTS” pro Cheryl Burke’s “Sex, Lies, and Spray Tans” podcast turned heads.
“That’s the problem with media, right?” Burke said on Wednesday. “We did a podcast, girlfriend to girlfriend, revealing a little bit of behind-the-scenes into the chemistry that’s required, and, you know, that happens on ‘Dancing with the Stars.’”
Brooke told Cheryl she and Hough originally weren’t “gelling” before they won the Mirrorball Trophy in 2008, but with the help of couples therapy, she wound up “crushing on Derek.”
“Had I not been married [to actor David Charvet] … I would have actually hoped we would have had a love affair,” Brooke gushed to Cheryl.
“It was a very honest conversation within boundaries, and I think the misconception is the difference between sexuality and sensuality,” the fitness and wellness guru explained to America’s favorite tabloid.
“What Derek and I experienced was a romantic story on the dance floor, right? And I think crushing on someone in that moment is a very human experience. I think romance is required for the chemistry of that show,” Burke said.
Burke went on to host “DWTS” for seven seasons from 2010–2013 until she was ousted alongside Tom Bergeron, 68, in 2014.
These days, Burke says she and Derek aren’t in contact anymore since “we have different lives and we’re both so busy,” but still considers him a lifelong friend.
“So, yes, I was surprised to [see] headline after headline after headline, but not really that worried about it because I have a very monogamous, faithful marriage,” she concluded.
“Totally blown out of proportion, but it was fun and exciting.”
Hough has yet to address Burke’s remarks. The Post has contacted reps for Hough for comment.
Brooke and Charvet divorced in 2020. Hough married fellow pro dancer Hayley Erbert, 29, in August.
Hough currently appears as a judge on “DWTS” alongside Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli on ABC and streaming on Disney+ Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST.
Burke told The Post she hasn’t been watching the show’s 32nd season — “not for any reason other than Monday and Tuesday nights at home are a little bit more for family time.”
“I think I did everything I needed to do on the show,” she added with a laugh.
Burke will host Season 10 of the competition magic show “Penn & Teller: Fool Us,” which premieres Oct. 27 on The CW.
