Carol Vorderman, who is well-known for her passionate hatred of the Conservative Party, had a fiery discussion with Charlotte Hawkins, who filled in for Kate Garraway on GMB this morning. The 63-year-old told ITV viewers that she’d previously trained as a journalist and was on a mission to expose government corruption amongst the Tories.

However, Charlotte quizzed whether she was capable of being unbiased, asking: “Are you going to be as equally critical and cast your eye over everything that’s going on when Labour is in government?” She reminded her: “Governments need to have a balancing act, of making everything work, balancing the budgets.”

However, Carol shot back: “I think you’re being very generous, Charlotte, to this government. That’s what they’ll tell you!” When 48-year-old Charlotte mounted a defence, replying: “There’s always been certain amounts of allegations of corruption”, Carol interrupted her.

Talking over the host, who was standing in for Kate Garraway with Adil Ray, she countered: “No there hasn’t though, not in the same way. That’s the whole thing.” Over on Twitter, viewers reacted to the exchange.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’m far from being a fan of the filthy Tories, but Carol Vorderman is just a Labour supporter. A true journalist would share ALL corruption, not one sided. She’s self righteous and self absorbed,” one blasted. Another exclaimed: “Carol Vorderman? I wanna switch off, but I’m gonna stick it out to see if she can keep her political bias in check.”

However, the divisive ex-Countdown host also had her fans on the platform, with some declaring her “phenomenal”.

“I’m in awe of #CarolVorderman . She’s a champion for truth and justice!” one viewer exclaimed.

“She brings stories that are otherwise hidden to the public eye. Stories that [corrupt figures] don’t want you to see,” another chimed in, before calling for a general election “now”.

“Carol Vorderman absolutely smashing it on #GMB. Forget the tribalism. If you don’t like what she’s got to say, question her facts. Come back at her with your own. Otherwise, you’re just shouting at the moon,” a fourth exclaimed.

The straight-talking LBC presenter announced last month that she intends to “take down the Tories” and hopes that their demise will spell the end of the GB News channel too.

On a recent episode of podcast The Trawl, she gloated that the Conservatives could be “decimated” via “tactical voting”.

“I reckon we can get them down to 70 seats or less and absolutely destroy them together, everybody – and then what’s the point of GB News? It has no purpose. Who’s going to carry on shovelling money into it? I predict that within 18 months [of a Conservative defeat], it will close down,” she exclaimed.

Her comments have incited fury from some and admiration from others, as the divisive personality continues to broadcast her political crusade.

Meanwhile, earlier today the Welsh presenter showed up at London’s free immersive entertainment venue Outernet to unveil portraits of the Independent’s top ten list of most influential females.

Scheduled as an International Women’s Day celebration, proceeds from the sales of the ten portraits – including one of Carol herself – will be donated to the domestic abuse charity Refuge.
