TV presenter Cat Deeley opened up about her atypical methods for staying well after an unexpected symptom of Covid left her feeling like she had MS (multiple sclerosis).

The 47-year-old, who had Covid in January 2021, revealed that she has been using infrared saunas and an oxygen chamber.

She explained in a new interview with Women’s Health UK: “I started going to the infrared sauna after I had Covid. I was left with aches and pains in my hands, and doctors couldn’t help so I started looking for other things to try and make myself feel a bit better.

“The symptoms [from Covid] that I had were a bit like MS, achy joints, no strength in my hands, and a weird thing that happened when I looked down – there’s a nerve at the back of your neck – and it almost felt fizzy, electric.

“I saw that they often treat MS patients with oxygen tanks as it helps with rejuvenation. I found a place locally that has one, and they also have a red light sauna and a cryo-chamber, and I was like ‘in for a penny in for a pound!’”

Unlike traditional saunas, these saunas use infrared lamps to warm the body directly and do not heat the air, meaning that you can spend longer in them.

According to Healthline, it is said that the heat penetrates the body more deeply and allows you to experience a more intense sweat at a lower temperature.

Cat continued: “I have to read a magazine. So I’ve got my glasses on, at the same time I try and put my legs up the wall. Completely naked. I mean…thank God, no one can see me.

“Then I sit there for 45 minutes, get incredibly sweaty, have a shower, wash my hair and then jump in the cryo tank.”

It comes after Cat and her husband Patrick Kielty returned to the UK from Los Angeles after living there for 15 years.

While there, the SMTV star picked up plenty of health and fitness tips, including juicing and supplements.

She told The Telegraph last year: “It’s much easier to be healthy in LA. I would get up in the morning, have a coffee, put my leggings and trainers on, take the dog down to the canyon and walk back up again…

“Back in London, it just doesn’t work like that. Although I’ll do some online yoga classes, I haven’t completely found my groove yet, but I’m not going to beat myself up about it.”

Last week, the mum-of-two made her presenting debut on This Morning as she stepped in for I’m A Celebrity star Josie Gibson.
