Ciara is excited about husband Russell Wilson’s next NFL chapter.
The 38-year-old singer celebrated the quarterback’s impending move to the Steelers on Sunday night in an Instagram Story, posting heart emojis representing Pittsburgh’s colors, black and yellow, alongside a Steelers hype video originally shared by Wilson.
Earlier in the night Sunday, Wilson — who is set to be released by the Broncos after the start of the new league year following a disastrous tenure in Denver — announced he’s joining the Steelers, posting a clip of fans waving Terrible Towels on game day.
“Year 13. Grateful. @steelers,” Wilson captioned the post.
Wilson, a nine-time Pro Bowler, is expected to sign “a team-friendly, one-year deal” with the Steelers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, with the Broncos picking up the remainder of his $39 million salary.
Denver announced last Monday it would part ways with Wilson after the start of the new league year — two years after the team orchestrated a blockbuster trade to acquire the Super Bowl-winning quarterback.
“On behalf of the Broncos, we thank Russell for his contributions and dedication to our team while wishing him the best as he continues his career,” the organization said in a statement Monday.
Days later, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported a mutual interest between the Steelers and Wilson, who also had an “exploratory meeting” with the Giants on Thursday.
Wilson, 35, joins a quarterback room that includes Kenny Pickett, the team’s first-round pick in 2022.
Pickett, 25, has yet to establish himself as Pittsburgh’s long-term answer at the position, having thrown 13 touchdowns and 13 interceptions through 25 games.
As Wilson looks to start anew in Pittsburgh, he and wife Ciara will be doing so with a new addition to their family.
The couple, who wed in 2016, welcomed daughter Amora Princess in December.
Wilson and Ciara are also parents to daughter Sienna, 6, and son Win, 3. Ciara also shares son Future, 9, with her ex, rapper Future.
