Damian Elloway explores cinematic darkness with ‘Duel of Gods’

With ‘Duel of Gods’, Damian Elloway steps into a darker and more cinematic space, leaning into a more industrial and atmospheric direction.

Released on October 31, the track fits naturally into a late-night, almost theatrical mood. Rather than relying on formula, it builds its identity through distorted textures, heavy low-end and a sense of controlled chaos that carries throughout.

At its core, the record sits somewhere between techno, festival energy and cinematic scoring, without fully committing to any one lane. That tension is what keeps it engaging, balancing powerful drops with a raw, less polished edge.

The production leans heavily on sound design, focusing more on atmosphere and texture than melody, giving the track a darker identity from start to finish.

A key part of the track’s identity comes from the environment it was created in. Elloway’s studio is set in a castle, which includes a small church with a slightly detuned pipe organ. Many of the core ideas originated there, with melodies shaped directly in that space.

Additional textures were built using metallic and percussive elements from the surroundings, allowing the physical character of the castle to influence the overall sound.

Speaking about the process, Elloway explained:

“Sometimes I deliberately move outside the usual structures of electronic music – changing BPMs, shifting energy, or stepping outside typical formats. For me that’s necessary to stay inspired and keep creating. Breaking those boundaries from time to time is part of my process.”

While ‘Duel of Gods’ leans into a darker, more cinematic tone, partly influenced by its Halloween concept, it represents an exploration rather than a fixed direction.
