Dancing on Ice professional Vanessa Bauer has revealed her dream career aspiration that she’s been wanting to do since being a child. The 27-year-old has revealed she’s been wanting to become an actress since the age of four and is now doing something about it as she’s taken up acting classes.

Speaking about her career goal, Vanessa exclusively told Express.co.uk: “I have wanted to act before I knew ice skating was a thing. I asked my parents that I wanted to become an actress but I couldn’t do it all. I had to decide where I wanted to invest my time, my parents money, so for me to be able to now pursue my acting dreams is a dream come true.

“My dad has always encouraged me to go after my dreams. I’m not only wishing for it or dreaming of it, I’m actually putting in the work, I’m being coached every single day in acting.”

She might be working to become a star on the big screen, but Vanessa wants to put in all of the work to be the best actress possible before she starts actively pursuing roles and going to auditions.

“I know that being an actor, it takes a lot of work, and only because I’m on a TV show, I don’t expect to get a Hollywood deal straight away,” she explained.

“I wanna know that I’m the best possible actress that I can be in order to deserve my spot in the casting audition.”

The skating star won’t be putting her skates away anytime soon as she believes there’s no reason why she can’t skate and act at the same time.

She joined Dancing on Ice back in 2018 for the tenth series and went on to win with X Factor star Jake Quickenden and has made it to the final a whopping five times.

Vanessa divulged: “I will always be a figure skater by heart, ice skating has my whole heart, I love it to bits. My biggest dream is to have an ice skating rink in my backyard, I’m obsessed with ice skating.

“But like I said, I bring something so unique to the acting industry that can hopefully merge all of my past experiences together with my movie background and my ice skating background, my competitive skating background, from Germany with an Indonesian mother.”

Vanessa is paired for with Made in Chelsea star Miles Nazaire for the upcoming series and the pair are busy rehearsing for the live shows.

Vanessa will be back on Dancing on Ice on ITV1 in January 2024.
