Dave Portnoy didn’t let Scottie Scheffler’s arrest stop him from supporting the world’s No. 1 golfer.
Scheffler was arrested by police and ahead of the second round of PGA Championship after a traffic flow misunderstanding escalated into multiple charges against the reigning Masters champion.
With details still being sorted out, the Barstool founder placed a $50,000 on Scheffler to win the PGA Championship to cash $375,000 on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Portnoy made the bet after winning $1.35 million on the Masters with Scheffler on April 14.
“I will ride with my guy Scottie Scheffler through the bowels of hell. #DKPartner,” Portnoy posted on X.
“When the chips are down, you can expect Dave Portnoy to have your back, so when I heard the news, I jumped right on DraftKings and put down $50,000 and the odds are up,” Portnoy said on the “Varney and Company” show.
The odds moved from +650 to +500 as Scheffler’s chances of making it back to the tournament at Valhalla Golf Club after being booked into jail improved.
“Yeah, that’s garbage. There must’ve been a miscommunication, cops have a very difficult job to It’s obviously a tragic incident there,” Portnoy said.
“This probably would’ve been the one time in the history of times to say, ‘Do you know who I am?’ he’s on the driveway onto the golf club. there’s reporters all along. The cops obviously have no idea who he was… Scheffler probably should not have been behind bars. It’s crazy that they got as far as to take a mugshot.”

The Barstool boss has a soft spot in his heart for Scheffler, as he’s won Portnoy over seven figures this year.
Portnoy also still has a few parlay tickets connected to Scheffler’s win at the Masters, so more profits are possible.
Scheffler was 4-under coming into Friday, five strokes off the lead held by Xander Schauffele.
Schauffele is the +250 favorite to win the PGA Championship after his hot start nabbed him a substantial lead.
Behind him is Rory Mcllroy (+450) who is 5-under, four strokes off the lead.
Scheffler has the third-best odds to win the tournament at the time of writing.
