It finally happened. The Carl Cox Guetta UNVRS moment arrived last night, and it was worth the wait. Carl Cox and David Guetta played their first ever back to back set together in Ibiza. The two DJs have shared plenty of festival lineups over the past three decades. Somehow, they had never actually shared a booth. That drought ended in dramatic fashion at UNVRS.

Cox himself broke the news online. “We’ve known each other for a very long time, shared plenty of lineups… but never shared the booth,” he wrote. “Last night at UNVRS, David Guetta and I finally went B2B for the very first time.” The reveal quickly took over dance, music timelines. Fans and DJs alike called the pairing long overdue. It also lands squarely in UNVRS’ first summer since opening on the site of the former Privilege.

What the Carl Cox & David Guetta [UNVRS] set sounded like

The set itself blended styles rather than pitting them against each other. Across the night, the two moved through house, techno and melodic techno. They read the room the way only DJs with 30 plus years behind them can. Grabbing the mic mid, set, Cox turned to Guetta with visible warmth: “Oh yes oh yes, David Guetta, oh my god! Thank you so much, it’s been absolute pleasure, what a perfect present from David.” Guetta smiled back and kept mixing. Clips have already begun making the rounds online.
