Fox Sports NFL analyst Mark Sanchez is receiving backlash over a comment he made on the broadcast during the Commanders-Seahawks game Sunday.

With less than four minutes to play in the third quarter and Seattle leading, 16-12, Sanchez said: “We got Brown on Brown crime right up top.”

The former NFL quarterback was referring to Seattle cornerback Tre Brown defending Washington receiver Dyami Brown, who caught a pass from quarterback Sam Howell at the 44-yard line.

Both players are black.

“But it’s just an inside slant,” Sanchez, 37, continued. “Get foot to foot, face to face and then break off, 45-degree angle.”

Sanchez, who was calling the game with Fox Sports play-by-play announcer Kevin Kugler, has yet to address the situation as of Tuesday.

Some social media users weren’t happy with the former pro’s choice of words on the broadcast of Seattle’s 29-26 victory.

“WE HAVE WHAT MARK SANCHEZ??” one user wrote on X, including a clip of his comment.

“Describing two African American football players going head to head as ‘brown on brown crime’ is crazy,” another person wrote.

“I don’t care if both their names are ‘Brown’ that’s just insane.”

Sanchez, who was drafted by the Jets with the fifth overall pick in 2009, led New York to consecutive AFC Championship Games in his first two pro seasons.

The 10-year NFL veteran also played for the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and Washington Football Team before retiring in 2019.

Sanchez joined FOX Sports in July 2021 as a game analyst.
