Furthermore, the pair wrapped the record this week at Lago Algo in Bosque de Chapultepec, Mexico City. The stream ran under the title ‘making a mixtape with latin mafia and staying here until we finish it’. Beyond that, McIntosh provided a bespoke reference listening system for the livestream. Notably, it centred on XRT2.1K floorstanding loudspeakers.
The mixtape is co-written and co-produced by Benjy, Fred’s younger brother and long-time collaborator. He is the lead singer of Bby, a band championed by The FADER, Rolling Stone and Pigeons and Planes. Additionally, Benjy has produced for Teezo Touchdown, Baby Keem and Skye Newman.
The lead-in came last weekend. Fred and LATIN MAFIA released ‘under the fabric (Mexico City, 11th December 2025)’, a 35-minute film shot last December. Meanwhile, the film captures the spontaneous session that first sparked the collaboration. Dutch visual artist Boris Acket designed the fabric installation that framed the shoot.
Fred again.. first rose to prominence with his ‘Actual Life’ series, three deeply personal albums released across 2021 and 2022. Furthermore, he launched ‘USB’ in 2022 as an ongoing, infinite album of club tracks. His ‘USB002’ run in September 2025 delivered ten songs and ten shows across ten cities. Notably, it closed with residencies in New York and London that hosted Thomas Bangalter, La Roux, Skream & Benga, Underworld, Kano, Flowdan, D Double E, JME and Duurty Goodz.
LATIN MAFIA is a trio of brothers from Mexico City. Additionally, they have sold out tours across North America, Latin America and Europe. Their credits include Coachella, Camp Flog Gnaw, Austin City Limits and Lollapalooza. Their Japan debut arrives at Summer Sonic this August.
