ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — The wait is over for Saquon Barkley.

He was activated and returned to the field Sunday night after missing the past three games with a right high ankle sprain

The Giants were 0-3 without him.

Barkley stretched and worked out with Giants trainers prior to the game and clearly he showed he was capable of playing.

Given the time he was out, he likely is set to be on a snap count in the game against the Bills at Highmark Stadium.

Barkley was injured in the closing minutes of the lone Giants victory this season, the Week 2 comeback to beat the Cardinals, 31-28.

With the game tied at 28, the Giants were already in field goal position when Barkley picked up two yards, was hit from the side, had his legs taken out and suffered the injury.

It was not a fast start for Barkley before going down vs. the Cardinals.

In the two games, he had 29 rushing attempts for 114 yards, an average of only 3.9 yards per attempt, along with one touchdown.

Without him, the Giants were unable to move the ball on the ground with Matt Breida, Gary Brightwell or rookie Eric Gray.

Through five games, the Giants were 23rd in the NFL in rushing at 92.2 yards per game but much of that production came from quarterback Daniel Jones, who led the team in rushing with 197 yards.

Jones won’t be active Sunday as he recovers from a neck injury.

Tyrod Taylor will take over at quarterback vs. the Bills.
