Avicii dog Liam — the beloved rescue Tim Bergling once called his first experience of unconditional love — is undergoing cancer treatment, and close friend Sean Eriksson has launched a GoFundMe to help cover care costs.
Stay strong, Liam. A GoFundMe has been launched to help cover the cost of cancer treatment and ongoing care for Liam, the dog late Swedish icon Avicii once called his first experience of unconditional love.
Liam has been in the care of trainer Filippo Moretti ever since Avicii’s passing in 2018, and the fundraiser has been organized by Avicii’s close friend and photographer Sean Eriksson, who adopted Liam from a shelter together with Tim Bergling years earlier. According to Eriksson, Liam’s cancer treatment is going well, but the financial burden has fallen largely on Moretti — and the campaign is designed to allow him to focus fully on getting Liam healthy.
“Liam is very well, but he will always miss Tim,” Moretti previously said in an interview with EDM.com. Bergling once told Eriksson that Liam was his first experience of unconditional love, and the dog was central to “The Crowning of Prince Liam,” the now-legendary road trip during which Avicii’s track ‘Without You’ was created. Eriksson has also described Liam as a source of emotional support for Bergling during periods of anxiety.
The fundraiser follows a May report that Liam had survived an earlier tumor scare, making this latest campaign an emotional development for the fans who have followed the dog’s life ever since Bergling’s tragic passing. The Swedish producer died by suicide in 2018 at the age of 28 after grappling with mental health struggles that have since become a central part of the ongoing conversation around DJ well-being.
Donations will first go toward Liam’s health and care. If any funds remain, Eriksson has said the hope is to help Moretti and Liam meet some of the people who have followed the dog’s journey over the past decade — many of whom have come to feel almost personally connected to him through Avicii’s story.
