Jeremy Clarkson was less than impressed as girlfriend Lisa Hogan tried to convince him that wild swimming should be their weekend activity of choice. The star took to social media on Saturday to question why the actor had chosen exercise over drinking in the pub with him.
The former Top Gear presenter posted a video of the 51-year-old to Instagram which saw her swimming in an open body of water. In the clip, Lisa was wearing a white bobble hat, and a black swimsuit, while performing a breaststroke.
Jeremy, 63, didn’t join his girlfriend of seven years in the water but decided to call out to her from the edge of the lake instead. In the background of the video, the father of three could be heard shouting: “Lisa? What are you doing?”
In reply, his partner said: “Just loitering in cold water.” Jeremy then asked Lisa why the pair weren’t at the pub, before suggesting that the two of them could head home and “read a book” together instead.
“Apparently because this is the best high you could ever get,” said the Irish star. Scoffing, Jeremy replied: “It just isn’t though, is it? It just isn’t.”
After Lisa claimed that her boyfriend “hadn’t been in cold water”, the Clarkson’s Farm star hit back: “I have been in cold water!
“I’ve done polar training – it was awful and trust me I’ve been drunk – and I’ve been in cold water – and being drunk is better.“
Concluding the clip, Jeremy pleaded with the model to get out of the water.
He demanded: “So let’s go to the pub, get out! Come on, please, hurry up.”
The cheeky clip, which was shared with Jeremy’s 7.5 million followers, has seen fans flocking to the comments section to have their say on the conversation.
One Instagram user wrote: “He can’t swim bc he walks on water, simple.”
A second typed: “Well that was fun! You’re in next time @jeremyclarkson1.”
“I’d rather go to the pub too,” claimed another viewer. “Don’t worry, Jeremy.”
A fourth user however was on Lisa’s side as they commented: “Love this! Nothing better for your mental health than cold water.”
“Good for you Lisa. Keep healthy,” said another.
Jeremy and the Fierce Creatures actress were initially set up by friends in 2017.
It’s said that the pair met at a party before making their first public appearance together at the GQ Men of the Year Awards in 2017.
Reminiscing on their meeting, the Dublin-based star said that she wasn’t bothered by Jeremy’s fame.
She said: “Even if they’re famous, if they’re not a nice person, it doesn’t matter that they’re famous – they’re still not a nice person.
“Whereas if they’re famous and a nice person, they’re just a nice person who happens to be famous.”
