Fans of Jonnie Irwin have expressed their concern following his latest social media update. The star took to Instagram to post a series of photographs to his 237,000 followers.
On Thursday, the 50-year-old revealed that he was carting around some “cargo” which included foliage and a cardboard box. The latter was strapped to his Babboe Curve, an electric, three-wheeled cargo bike.
In a second snap, the Escape to the Country star posed for a selfie, wearing a light grey helmet, a black snood and a blue padded jacket. The father-of-three wrote: “Feel a bit like Santa with this cargo.
“Good excuse to try out my new kid. When I’ve got a better handle of its clever bits I’ll show it off!”
Following the post, many fans took to the comments section to query whether the bike was safe to steer with all Jonnie’s gear piled up. One Instagram user said: “It might help if you could see where (sic) you are going.”
A second said: “You be careful Jonnie-how do you see where you’re going ??? Looking good.”
“Newcastle traffic on that? Brave,” commented another.
A fourth social media user said: “Good luck watching where you’re going! X”
Elsewhere, another joked: “You need to wear a full Santa suit next photo selection please.”
Jonnie’s latest update comes just days after the TV presenter revealed he was using an electric physiotherapy machine to help strengthen his legs during his battle with terminal lung cancer.
While using the contraption, the presenter was keeping himself busy while watching the Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United football game.
Speaking about the therapy, Jonnie wrote: “Trying out my @enovis_uk_ireland machine whilst watching Spurs come good as I hoped they would.
“For me especially this was a ‘pulsating win’ Keeping my joy on the DL as Mrs I was not very happy…”
Jonnie was originally diagnosed with lung cancer in 2020 and revealed in November 2022 that the cancer had unfortunately spread to his brain.
Last month, he celebrated his 50th birthday after initially being given six months to live two years earlier.
The presenter travelled to the Costa Del Sol in Spain with his wife Jessica Holmes and their sons, four-year-old Rex and three-year-old twins Rafa and Cormac.
Speaking to HELLO!, he said: “I feel really privileged to be able to celebrate my birthday looking at blue skies and with sand between my toes.
“I had an early birthday party at the start of the year because I didn’t think I’d make it. It was like being at my own wake; lots of fun, lots of dancing. But here I am. I view it as a complete triumph.”
