After charming viewers with her stint on this year’s I’m A Celebrity, Josie Gibson is reportedly the frontrunner to replace Holly Willoughby on Dancing on Ice. ITV are yet to confirm whether Holly, 42, is returning to the skating show or not, but if she chooses not to, another This Morning star is said to be hotly tipped to take her place.
A source told The Sun: “Josie’s stint in the jungle shows she has the perfect blend of humility, confidence, humour and unflappability. And she’s already proved she’s able to handle live TV during her time as a co-host on This Morning where she’s also developed quite a following among viewers.
“ITV will be hoping she’ll bring that popularity across to Dancing On Ice, if she ends up bagging the job in Holly’s absence.” The insider went on to reveal that the channel is still hoping Holly will return to her hosting position and are holding out for her.
They continued: “ITV are still hoping Holly will sign up. But the situation remains up in the air and nervous producers are now counting down to the start in days rather than weeks.
“There are several figures who could fill Holly’s role but Josie very much stands out. Even if producers pick a potential Plan B, it will all depend on the availability of the potential candidates.”
Plenty of names have been thrown into the mix as potential hosts, including Rochelle Humes as well as Stephen Mulhern for the male co-host.
The mum-of-one has also reportedly been given a huge promotion and pay rise thanks to her successful stint in Australia.
She became the last woman standing in the ITV reality show and narrowly missed out on a place in the final and now reports claim that her success has led her to secure a “50 percent pay rise” and have her role “bumped up to two days a week,” a different source told The Sun.
The Big Brother winner made her return to the show earlier this week after several weeks off to compete in the jungle.
