Kelly Rowland is a survivor.
Sherri Shepherd revealed that she successfully interviewed the former Destiny’s Child member — after the latter stormed out on her hosting gig at the “Today” show last week over an inadequate dressing room.
In a Tuesday clip, which appeared to kick off the interview, the singer praised Shepherd, 56, for “being light, positive energy in this space.”
“We needed you,” continued Rowland. “And I thank you so much for your light.”
The exchange led many critics to joke that the daytime talk show host had given Rowland, 43, a better dressing room than the NBC program.
“I guess her dressing room was acceptable,” one fan said snidely, which prompted Shepherd to respond: “Oh we gave her a gorgeous room. It is Kelendria Rowland.”
“I guess she has bigger dressing rooms,” a second fan cackled.
One fan took a more polarized view and said the singer made the short pronouncement in order to detract from her recent behavior.
“Why do I feel like she started off like that So Sherri wouldn’t ask her about the daytime talk show drama of her walking out of her dressing room,” they commented.
Last week, Rowland made headlines when she walked off the “Today” show because her dressing rooms reportedly “weren’t up to par.” Her abrupt exit left Hoda Kotb scrambling to fill in her guest host spot.
“Kelly and her team were not happy,” a source close to the incident told Page Six. “They did not like the dressing room, so they decided to pull her off the show, leaving Hoda without a guest host for the 10 a.m. hour.”
The actress and her team reportedly played “musical dressing rooms” before inquiring about a dressing room on a different floor. However, it was already occupied by Jennifer Lopez.
The show offered the “Mea Culpa” actress several other options, including multiple talent dressing rooms and larger utility makeup and hair areas.
“They didn’t want that. [The show] basically offered up as much as possible, but they weren’t happy with it, so they walked and they left,” the insider said.
Despite the hiccup, Kotb, 56, was later joined by British superstar Rita Ora, who stepped in last-minute.
Ora, 33, confirmed her appearance on the broadcast via Instagram, stating that she only had “two minutes to prepare.”
“Well, this happened” the “Ritual” singer captioned a slideshow of photos. “We had two minutes to prepare ahhh, thank you @hodaandjenna for asking me to co-host the show.”
“Everyone was so lovely and kind, I had SO much fun doing it,” she added. “Love to everyone that tuned in, maybe we should do more.”
Rowland, for her part, has yet to speak out on the drama.
