Six years on from War for the Planet of the Apes and the fourth instalment in the rebooted sci-fi franchise is soon to arrive.

The 2017 movie concluded with the apes reaching the oasis and Andy Serkis’ Caesar dying from his wounds.

Just before he died Maurice promised Caesar that his son would know who he was and what he did for the apes.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set years later with my ape clans having emerged in the oasis, while humans have regressed into a feral state.

Owen Teague stars by motion capture as Cornelius, the chimpanzee son of Caesar who faces a new threat.

According to the synopsis, another ape leader is preventing the teachings of Caesar, to enslave others ape clans in search of the last traces of a secret human technology. Meanwhile, another ape heads off on a journey to find freedom with a human girl.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes co-stars Freya Allan, Peter Macon, Eka Darville, Kevin Durant and Travis Jeffery.

Additionally, the cast included Neil Sandilands, Sara Wiseman, Lydia Peckham, Ras-Samuel Welda’abzgi, William H Macy and Dichen Lachman.

The film is the first since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios) and is set to be the beginning of a new trilogy.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes hits cinemas on May 24, 2024.
