LANDR Acquires Reason Studios as Music Creation Platforms Continue to Consolidate

The deal brings Reason under the umbrella of LANDR, a Montreal-based platform known for AI-powered music production, distribution, and creator services.

LANDR has announced the acquisition of Reason Studios, the Stockholm-based company behind the Reason DAW and Reason Rack.

According to both companies, Reason Studios will continue to operate as an independent brand, retaining its products, identity, and existing user community. Reason and the Reason Rack are set to remain standalone offerings, rather than being folded into a new or unified DAW. The acquisition instead positions Reason within a wider ecosystem of creator tools that LANDR has been steadily building.

LANDR has stated that one of its core goals is to expand the role of Reason Rack as a cross-DAW instrument and effects environment, reinforcing its relevance beyond users working exclusively inside the Reason DAW.

While no immediate product changes were announced, LANDR confirmed that deeper integrations will be introduced over time. These are expected to include collaboration features and AI-assisted tools drawn from LANDR’s broader platform, as well as its subsidiary Synchro Arts, known for VocAlign and Revoice Pro. The company has emphasised that any additions will be introduced gradually, rather than through abrupt changes to existing workflows.

As part of the transition, LANDR and Reason Studios are establishing an Artist Council made up of long-time Reason users and producers. The council is intended to provide direct feedback on product direction and roadmap decisions, formalising a community-driven approach that Reason has historically leaned on.

Operationally, teams will remain split between Stockholm and Montreal, with both locations acting as centres of expertise. The structure is designed to preserve Reason’s development culture while giving it access to greater technical and organisational resources.

Integrated creator platforms have become increasingly common, and this move further reinforces that trend. For now, Reason users shouldn’t expect major changes, but over the longer term it suggests a closer connection between Reason’s tools and AI-assisted production and collaboration features.
