Lucy Alexander wowed her fans and friends alike as she shared a youthful snap of herself from her early days as a TV presenter. The star is best known for hosting BBC property show Homes Under the Hammer alongside Martin Roberts from 2003 to 2018.
However, before her big break on the BBC, she was working for Channel 5, hosting their bizarre game show It’s A Knockout from 1999 to 2001. The format of the show saw teams representing a town or city compete against each other in absurd games and obstacle courses, often dressed in large foam rubber suits.
Lucy was just 29 years old when she joined the game show as a co-presenter alongside Keith Chegwin, while Frank Bruno acted as referee and Nell McAndrew as scorekeeper. Taking to Instagram, Lucy shared a picture of her young self posing beside her co-stars for the show’s promotional poster.
In the picture, she can be seen wearing a vivid yellow, red and blue T-shirt and wearing her blonde hair long and straight. Her co-stars can be seen smiling beside her in front of the bold background with the words “IT’S A KNOCKOUT”.
In view of her 66,600 followers, the A Place in the Sun star opened up about her time on the show and revealed how she had rediscovered the picture. She wrote: “LOOK what my dad found [laughing emoji].
“LOL he popped over yesterday & had found this old programme in his loft – it was for our @channel5_tv ‘IT’S A KNOCKOUT’.
“We revived the show in the late nineties after 17 years off the box – we travelled the length and breadth of the country inviting teams to join in the fun of the MAD games…
“Morecambe, Whiltshire, Scotland were just a few places meeting all the teams and Recording the shows weekly.
“So privileged to have worked with the legend Keith Chegwin ‘cheggers’ we both co-hosted @frankbrunoboxer on the start whistle and gorgeous @nelliemcfitness on the Scores…
“What a laugh we had,” she added. “Can you imagine! Can still hear Franks booming laugh [giggligb emoji] ‘juicy Lucy’ he only ever called everyone by nicknames.” (sic)
She ended the post with the hashtags: “#nostalgia #itsaknockout #channel5 #frankbruno #nellmcandrew #cheggers #tvpresenter.” (sic)
Lucy’s followers took to the comments section to marvel at her find, with Lizzie Cundy writing: “This is fantastic.”
“Brilliant! You look about 12!!” commented Loose Women’s Ruth Langsford, while Tamzin Outhwaite responded with clapping emojis.
