Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s decision to ditch the royal family had a “huge impact” on Prince William and Princess Kate’s marriage, according to a report.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex sensationally shut the door on royal life in 2020 and hightailed it across the pond to California — forcing the Prince and Princess of Wales to pick up the “extra workload.”
“Prince William and Kate are feeling incredibly resentful towards Meghan and Harry for leaving them to pick up the work they dropped when they moved to the States,” a source told Closer magazine.
“The extra workload that’s been handed to them is huge.”
The insider said William and Kate were left to take on “even more responsibility” following the Sussexes’ decision to move overseas.
“It had huge impact on their marriage and family life,” the source said. “At times it can feel like they are cracking under this relentless pressure.”
“With less time at home together and having to spend more time apart, they feel constantly torn apart in different directions and they insist that wouldn’t be happening if Harry and Meghan hadn’t abandoned their royal duties,” the insider added.
It comes as a PR expert claimed that the Sussexes are “jealous” of William and Kate’s advantage submitting a trademark application in the US, the Mirror reports.
PR expert Andy Barr told the outlet that the Sussexes would be somewhat envious of the doors that would potentially open to William and Kate — should they wish to take on the US.
“Whilst Harry and Meghan have a powerful and well established network of celebrity friends and ‘fixers’, there is no substitute for being an actual, fully paid up member of the royal family,” Barr said.
“The global interest and intrigue in the British Royal Family means that they are guaranteed crowds wherever they go and whatever they do.”
Barr said William and Kate could “instantly be injected into the kinds of high society connections and opportunities that even top level A-List celebrities like Meghan and Harry would be jealous of.”
“You only have to watch their every interaction to see that Kate and William are clearly super competitive and if you combine that and the royal publicity machine in full swing, you can’t see much getting in there.”
The heir to the throne reportedly submitted an application to the US Patent and Trademark Office on May 12 to trademark “The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales.”
