The Mets’ search for bullpen reinforcements begins by retaining one of their own.
The club will be picking up Brooks Raley’s $6.5 million option, The Post’s Jon Heyman reported on Friday.
The left-hander provided his steady presence in a setup role last season, recording a 2.80 ERA and 61 strikeouts across 54 ⅔ innings and 66 appearances.
He did miss two weeks in May with left elbow inflammation, but was strong upon returning from the injured list.
The 35-year-old Raley, after posting 25 holds and three saves, should serve as one of the Mets’ high-leverage options ahead of Edwin Diaz, who missed all of last season with a torn patellar tendon.
They could also hang on to another veteran in Adam Ottavino, who has a $6.75 million player option he must decide on, though either way they figure to be in the market to add bullpen help.
