Someone give Ice Spice the light! The Bronx rapper is coming in with that heat on her new single “Gimmie a Light,” which dropped on Friday (May 10) via 10K Projects and Capitol Records.

She debuted “Gimmie the Light” during her Coachella performance in April. The single samples Sean Paul’s Billboard Hot 100 No. 7 smash “Gimme the Light” from his 2002 sophomore album Dutty Rock. The reggae superstar shared the video snippet on X.

“Gimmie a Light” arrives four months after Spice’s last solo single “Think U the Shit (Fart),” which debuted at No. 37 on the Hot 100 — making it her highest charting solo single to date. She’s slated to drop her first full-length album Y2K later this year, following her debut EP Like..? that she released in January 2023. The project (which got a deluxe release last July) reached No. 15 on the Billboard 200, which included her Hot 100 No. 4 smash “Princess Diana” with Nicki Minaj and her 2022 breakout smash “Munch (Feelin’ U).” The project was featured on Billboard‘s 50 Best Albums of 2023 list and Best Rap Albums of 2023 list.

She also recently hopped on the remix of Cash Cobain and Bay Swang’s viral song of the summer contender “Fisherrr,” which debuted at No. 11 on Bubbling Under Hot 100 and No. 33 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs this week (chart dated May 11).
