If your skin starts to break out or you can feel a spot coming on then try swallowing a whole clove of garlic.

Dani wrote to her 249k Instagram followers: ” To whoever said to swallow garlic to reduce new acne breakouts overnight, I owe you my life.”

Meanwhile, another influencer Belicia Arnold couldn’t agree more about the trend and shared a clip of her own.

She said that: “swallowing a clove of garlic before bed helps to reduce new acne breakouts, and reduces gas or bloating problems too.”

Despite this, there is no evidence to prove that garlic can help reduce the risk of breakouts or improve your skin.

Garlic does, however, contain components which may indirectly help with skin health.

But this hasn’t convinced everyone to give the beauty hack a go.

One person said: “This is so gross. “The thought of how much it would burn makes me queasy.”

Another asked: “Is it really worth being smelly for two days?” and someone replied: “No because your breath will smell like garlic for days and everything you eat will taste like garlic.”

A third said: “Honestly, I’ll take the acne over the stomach problems this would cause.”

And finally, someone simply said: “This is so gross.”

While the food is good for adding to most dishes and giving flavour it also has natural antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. However, it may help you tackle any skin infections and acne-causing bacteria that you’ll have on your face.

Will you be giving this beauty trend a go?
