When the Rangers popped champagne in the clubhouse after winning the World Series with a 5-0 win over the Diamondbacks in Game 5, there was only one song that had to be on.
The Rangers celebrated their first world championship on Wednesday night as “Higher” by Creed blared and the team belted out the lyrics.
The 1999 hit has become the de facto rallying song for the Rangers this postseason after pitcher Andrew Heaney revealed earlier in the playoffs that the team had started playing Creed’s music before games in the second half of the season.
Fans quickly jumped on the Creed bandwagon as the Rangers marched through the playoffs, and their music became a staple at Globe Life Field.
The band even showed up in Arlington for Game 3 of the ALCS when the Rangers battled the in-state rival Astros.
It came as no surprise then when the song blasted on Wednesday night during the celebration.
The band themselves posted a message on X congratulating the Rangers for their World Series win.
While the Rangers’ title-clinching win came in Arizona, “Higher” still blared in the Lone Star State at American Airlines Center in Dallas, where the Mavericks were hosting the Bulls.
Video from inside the arena showed the crowd erupting as Texas got the final out.
The Rangers were held hitless through six innings before they came through in the seventh when Mitch Garver broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single.
Texas added four runs in the ninth inning off a single and an Arizona error before Marcus Semien put the icing on the cake with a two-run blast.
Corey Seager was named World Series MVP after hitting three homers and driving in six runs.
Rangers manager Bruce Bochy won his fourth World Series title after winning three with the Giants.
With a title to their name, the biggest question for the Rangers now becomes, will Creed show up to the parade?
The Rangers will likely welcome them… “With Arms Wide Open.”
